Singer, composer, pianist, Afro Cuban dancer, dancer, and educator Melvis Santa Estevez, aka just Melvis Santa, was born and raised in Havana, and started her arts education at the tender age of four. By seven, she was playing classical piano, and at 14, she founded the vocal group Sexto Sentido, winner of the Cuban Youth Jass competition Jo-Jazz in 2001. She eventually graduated from the prestigious Amadeo Roldan Conservatory with a degree in Piano and Music Theory, and was one of the lead vocalists of Interactivo, a fusion band in Cuba. Melvis debuted her solo album, Santa Habana, in 2012, which got a nomination nod from the CubaDisco Awards. That same year, the curly-haired hottie made her feature-film acting debut as three different characters in three of the segments in the film 7 Days in Havana (2012), the 24-hour stories of seven people living in or visiting the capital of Cuba. Melva was Cecilia in “La Tentación de Cecilia,” and also appeared in “Jam Session,” and “Dulce Amargo.” The film garnered a nomination for the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes Film Festival, and more importantly for Mr. Skin, showed Melvis in all her wonderful, beautiful, naked glory as she bathes, and as she has standing-up sex. She followed that performance up with the film 3 Days in Havana (2013) as Harry’s Girl, then moved out of Havana for lots of days, with a place in New York City in 2014. She now teaches workshops at NYU, CUNY Graduate Center, The Spence School, and Tulane University in New Orleans.
